Hi! I posted this about a week ago, but I suppose it didn't successfully post or something! Anyway, here is a week-old post, and I will be posting another up-to-date update in a few days!
This past week has been fantastic. My Spanish class started, which is only 4 weeks long, and it is seeming like it should go okay. The goal was to do class work in the morning and then explore during the afternoon and weekends. Surprisingly, my brain doesn't appreciate a schedule with structured working in the morning, so I have ended up just carrying my laptop wherever I go and do work when I feel like it. No structure at all....shocker.
On Tuesday of this week, the national exchange coordinator for UNM gave me a campus tour! Not sure if anyone else would think that the campus would be deserty and orange, but I did. UNM is full of greens, trees, and beautiful art sculptures. The first half of the video I'm posting below is my stroll through campus on Thursday, so beautiful and sunny!
The sad part about UNM is that the events and opportuntities are few and far between right now, with the combination of the summer season and COVID restrictions. This means that it's pretty difficult for me to meet other students through campus events or organizations. But, that means I get to be with myself and have no obligations except my own. (Which, in all honesty, is so fun to me 🤠.)
I was able to get my student ID and public transportation sticker this week, meaning I can take public transportation for free! I explored Nob Hill, which is a little swanky area with lots of small businesses, and Old Town, which I suppose used to be an old town but is thriving with local shops. Both are super cute, will definitely go back to explore more, but also am looking to go out and see more!
Instead of pictures, I made a little video compilation of the past two days (6/10 and 6/11). Have a wonderful week, and will be posting soon! :)
What a beautiful campus! Now that you have access to the public transportation, we look forward to seeing more awesome videos and pictures of the area!! Glad your Spanish class is going well. Excited to hear more!
